While our Association has steadily grown over the past 30 years, our mission remains the same:
- Improve the quality of management in legal service organizations.
- Promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal administrators and other members of the legal management team.
- Represent professional legal management and managers to the legal community and to the community at large.
The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the premier management resources for the legal profession, is the largest association representing legal administrators in the world. Founded in 1971, ALA provides support to the professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies. ALA provides high quality educational opportunities and services to more than 10,000 members representing more than 6,000 employers in 30 countries.
ALA is structured into six regions with more than 100 chapters in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Puerto Rico. The Edmonton Chapter is part of Region 5. Region 5 encompasses Alaska, Alberta, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Region 5 has approximately 700 members in 8 chapters.
ALA’s mission is to “promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal administrators and all members of the management team.” The Association’s members are law office administrators who are thought leaders and industry experts of legal management issues such as finance, human resources, systems and technology, facilities, marketing and practice development.
